Suning Advances to Quarterfinals to Face Henan

In the fourth round of the 2016 Chinese FA Cup held tonight, Jiangsu Suning secured a convincing 3–0 away victory over Shanghai Shenxin, booking their place in the tournament’s final eight for the fourth consecutive year. With this win, Suning now sets its sights on a quarterfinal clash against Henan Jianye.

The match started with Shanghai Shenxin showing early intent. In the 14th minute, they earned a free kick on the right side of the attacking third. Davi delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post, where Daniel rose above the defense to head the ball toward goal, only to be denied by a sharp save from Zhang Sipeng at the near post. Moments later in the 19th minute, Tan Fucheng made a strong run down the right wing, cutting into the box and firing a powerful shot from a tight angle, again parried over the bar by Zhang.

By the 22nd minute, Shenxin came close once more when Daniel received a pass at the edge of the box and fired just wide of the post. However, Suning gradually took control. In the 36th minute, Xie Pengfei intercepted the ball on the left flank and passed to Ramires, who found space in the center. With a clever dummy from Jo, Yang Hao sprinted forward and slid in for a shot, but Lin Xiang was quick to collect.

Just after halftime in the 47th minute, Suning launched a fast counterattack. Jo split the defense with a pass to Teixeira, who drew in multiple defenders before slotting a through ball to Ramires. Timing his run perfectly, Ramires broke the offside trap, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted the ball into an empty net to put Suning ahead 1–0.

Four minutes later, Ramires returned the favor with a lofted pass from the left side to find Ji Xiang charging forward. Ji broke free and delivered a low cross into the box, where Teixeira was waiting at the back post. His tap-in was denied by a last-ditch goal-line clearance from Hu Mingfei, keeping the scoreline unchanged.

In the 57th minute, Ji Xiang whipped in another dangerous cross from the right, causing chaos in front of goal. Jo managed to control the ball and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot, only for Lin Xiang to make a stunning diving save. Suning came close again in the 64th minute, as Teixeira surged down the left wing and found Ramires in the middle, who fired just over the bar.

In the 78th minute, Ramires led another attack down the right and unleashed a rocket toward the near post, but Lin Xiang parried it out for a corner. Shenxin’s defense was under constant pressure, and eventually it cracked again. In the final minutes, Teixeira drove down the left and squared the ball to Jo, who coolly finished in front of goal to make it 2–0.

Suning sealed the win in the 90th minute when Teixeira, receiving a lobbed pass, cut into the box from the left and sent a low cross back into the middle. Wu Xi charged in and smashed the ball into the net, ending the match with a dominant 3–0 scoreline.
